If you take the time to think of all the different weight loss programs, workout regimes and miraculous exercise equipment that claim fast and effective results, then you're more likely to miss the solutions that actually deliver. It's no secret that losing weight takes time, even though some companies will advertise their fast fat-burning products as helping you shed those kilos in just days. To reach your ideal weight in a healthy manner, you may need to see through these gimmicks to ensure you can get that weight off and keep it off. This is the trick: keeping it off.
You know, there is a solution when it comes to healthy weight loss. You don't need to spend endless amounts of money on bulky gym equipment, miracle weight loss pills, intense cardio torture led by aggressive boot camp leaders. Unless you want that iron-man look, of course. Some of us just want a lean body though and regular work on particular muscles that we need to use everyday.
This is where we come to the answer. I don't want to sound like those infomercials shouting out how incredible their products are, because this is nothing like that at all. It's fun, invigorating, exciting and simple.
One word: Zumba.
I know what you're thinking—'I'm too uncoordinated for that. That's for people who know how to dance.' You're thinking it because with the word Zumba comes the words Latin dance and a whole bunch of moves that sound way too scary to be done without proper training. First thing you need to do is get that notion out of your head. A majority of people who attend Zumba classes have probably never taken a dance class in their life; let alone a Latin dance class.
Zumba is all about forgetting how uncoordinated you are, taking the time to try something new and exciting, and leaving your anxieties at the door. If you're worried about people laughing at you, then you need to understand that everyone in the class is going to be far too busy laughing at themselves to even glance in your direction.
If you don't believe me, then you need to get out there and see for yourself. When you've done that, come back and I'll say, 'I told you so!'
Adelaide in South Australia is one of the 90,000 locations around the world where Zumba is being held. One class in particular is run by Zumba-enthusiast Charli who has been in the fitness industry for many years, so it's safe to say you'll be in capable hands. Charli has danced professionally in America, Singapore, Japan and New Zealand; obtained a Certificate 3 in Fitness; and encountered different dance styles such as jazz, tap, Latin and contemporary. Her passion for dance led her to begin Zumba classes in Adelaide in four convenient locations. Luckily for us she has been inclined to put her training and expertise into helping anyone and everyone lose weight, get fit and have a blast doing it.
Now, if you're still not convinced, let's ponder for a moment on the benefits of Zumba. You can lose up to 500 calories in a one-hour class. That's equivalent to 45 minutes jumping rope, walking for two hours, or mowing the lawns for an hour and a half. Unless you can't get enough of mowing lawns, why not just attend a Zumba class? Better yet, why not attend a Zumba class with Charli? She will have you moving and shaking to hypnotic beats, give you time to learn the already simplified moves, encourage you to go at your own pace, keep the classes fresh and fun, and she doesn't use a microphone so you don't have to be worried about being yelled at every few minutes. You're just given a chance to enjoy the music, enjoy the moves and shed those kilos in an hour's workout that literally only feels like twenty minutes. You'll work up a sweat, but you'll be left wanting more. Along with all these fantastic perks, Charli runs three different class types so you can find one that suits your needs. Regular Zumba gets the heart rate up, makes you sweat and combines fast and slow routines so you don't have to worry about being out of breath the whole time. Zumba Toning is done with maraca-like toning sticks to really tone and sculpt your body. It uses similar Zumba moves but focuses more on building strength and toning up the body and, of course, allowing you to have fun doing it. There is also a Ground Worx class which is floor-based and combines stretch and strength moves to target your core. If you're looking to strengthen your core, and assist your arms and legs in becoming leaner and longer, then this class is for you.
So do yourself a favour and become Zumba-crazy. After one class you'll wonder why you were so worried to begin with. Zumba is so much fun you'll forget you're even working out. Like they say, it really is just a party!
